Konsorcjum z udziałem DFDS zaaplikowało o fundusze unijne na rozwój promu zasilanego ogniwami paliwowymi. Prom miałby obsługiwać połączenie Oslo – Frederikshavn – Kopenhaga. Zastosowana technologia pozwoli na produkcję energii elektrycznej z ogniw paliwowych o mocy 23MW. Sam prom będzie obsługiwał 1800 pasażerów oraz 120 ciężarówek lub 380 samochodów.
